With a new produce store opening, Hector hadn’t been able to resist visiting. The urge to feel and sniff everything was taking over but he remained firm and allowed his eyes to feast on the bright colours while he took in the scents of the produce and smells of the store itself. His mind whirls with ideas of what to make whenever he comes in and each new dish tastes better than the last with the endless possibilities now presented to him. It quickly became routine for Hector to pass by when he was finishing training or after a match, if it was still open. With pulses, grains, dairy free milks and cheese, the small store held a lot of goods which brought in a lot of custom; especially his.

He’d like to put it down to only the food as to why he’s continued to come here, but really, he knows it’s more than that. With his basket hooked over his forearm as he browses, he keeps glancing up to see where she is, quickly dropping his gaze once more if she begins to look up at him. Funny, beautiful and from what he’s witnessed, kind and caring, she seemed to be the whole package and that made him nervous. Each time he’s been in, she’s always struck up conversation with him, made him laugh and left him feeling butterflies fluttering in his stomach.

Still pretending to be minding his business, he almost misses her speaking to him - only realising it’s him that she’s speaking to when he glances back up and she’s laughing, her eyes fixed on him as she leans against the cash register counter. “In a world of your own today, I see.”

“I am so sorry, were you speaking to me?” heat flushes his cheeks and he hopes they’re not reddening as much as they feel it.

She pays attention to me?

“It’s fine.” she gives a wave of her hand and smiles again. “I asked what you were cooking tonight.”

“Not a clue at the minute. I keep hoping I’ll see something that I want but I’m coming up with nothing. Not that there’s nothing good to eat here, because there is,” he stumbles over his words, “it’s just that-”

“Too much choice?” She finishes for him, saving him from himself.

“Right.” he nods, “usually I have an idea when I come in for what I want but,” he gives her another look and when she looks at him expectantly, he finishes with a rather disappointing “I’m a bit lost for ideas now. And words apparently.”

She eyes the contents of his basket and scrunches her mouth to the side as she begins to play with a pen as she thinks. “Do you have any allergies?”

“Trying to kill me off?” he grins after speaking and she laughs.

“It’s good to know your weaknesses of course.”

“None. No allergies. That I’ve found anyway.”

“There’s always a first,” she teases and pushes away from the counter. “Come, follow me.”

She navigates the store in a way that you would expect the owner to. She makes her way down the narrow aisles, fingers pulling items from the shelves and drops them into his basket, occasionally holding up two items and asking which he’d prefer.

“Have I put anything in here that you wouldn’t eat?” she asks, and he shakes his head. No.

Hector watches as she gathers everything she needs and heads back to the counter, pulls a pad of paper from beneath the desk and begins to write out a recipe.

Her handwriting is neat, almost as though she’s printed it from a word document. He can see a list of ingredients and their quantities, and step by step being written out.

“Try this,” she says as she carefully pulls the paper from the pad and hands it to him. “I’d like a review.”

“And if I don’t like it?”

“Then it’s certainly how you’ve made it, because this is tried and tested. And if it’s awful, I’ll have to make it for you myself sometime.”

“Then maybe I’ll make it badly and see how it should be done.”

“Oh no, no, no.” She wags her finger at him, “you are not wasting my good produce like this. I will be happy to cook for you, but you need to ask me for the date first.”

“Tonight? After you close up?”

“You waste no time. I like that. Tonight is good.” She nods and smiles to herself before ringing up his sale.

Héctor hasn’t been in a good mood today, being grumpy and tired. You don’t like to see him like this, because normally, he is a very happy, energetic, and loving person, but now, he is just lying on the bed, staring at the ceiling. Walking through the hallway of your apartment, you hear soft groans coming out of your bedroom. You peak your head inside, seeing him still lying on the bed, just wearing some sort of short shorts.

Héctor groans again, his voice sounding more grumpy and rough than usual. Tilting your head slightly, you think about what to do before it hits you. “Are you okay?” You ask him worryingly, entering the room slowly. He just growls deeply, without moving a muscle. “I take that as a no.” You sigh and sit down at the end of the bed, watching him looking at the ceiling.

Héctor blinks slowly, his fingers running circles across the sheets. “Is there anything I can do for you?” You ask him, again worryingly, but this time he doesn’t even make a sound, instead, he just shakes his head. Hesitating, you bite your lower lip, thinking about if it’s the right time to go on with your plan.

But then, you start stroking his thighs, running your fingers along his leg, across his tattoo. You can feel his body reacting to your touch, his face softening a little. Smirking, you climb on top of him, now sitting on his lap. This causes him to look at you, raising an eyebrow and groan loudly. Before he can protest, however, you start to stroke his chest gently, but you tickle him shortly after.

At first, he just growls again, but he giggles underneath his breath, trying to fight you off of him. “Ah, gotcha.” You smirk, still tickling him wildly, before he simply overpowers you, turning you around. Now, he is towering over you, his face just inches away from yours, his weight pinning you against the bed. “You’re naughty.” He smirks, kissing you softly, but his face tenses again, telling you that he is still feeling bad.

“I’m sorry, I’m not in the mood today,” Héctor says and climbs off of you, now sitting at the edge of the bed. “No, I’m sorry.” You say, slowly getting up as well, but you’re still not giving up yet. Smirking again, you pick up a soft pillow and throw it against his back. He flinches and turns around, his expression shifting between being angry and being playful. Hesitating, you raise an eyebrow, waiting for him to say anything.

“Oh, it’s on.” He says finally, picking the pillow up from the floor, as the two of you get back on to the bed, having a pillow fight. The two of you laugh, scream and swirl across the bed, hitting each other playfully. After a while, both of you drop on to the bed next to each other, breathing heavily. Héctor turns his face towards you, still trying to catch his breath.

You meet his gaze and see his whole body relaxing instantly, his hand finding yours, intertwining your fingers. “Thank you.” He says quietly, stroking your hand. “I just wanna see you happy again.” You say, forcing a weak smile. Héctor leans in for a more passionate kiss, stroking your cheek, your neck with his hand.

As you separate, he brushes your hair out of your face, now stroking your face tenderly. “I’m always happy when I’m with you.” He says lovingly, moving closer towards you. “Me too.” You say, resting your head against his chest. Spending some time cuddling, you just enjoy each other’s company, before you order some takeout.

Being in the public eye was never easy and it always proved to be difficult when it came to being in relationships but Héctor, he understood.

He too was in the public eye. He too was constantly being scrutinised by not just opposition fans but his own fans too. The pressure from the public was a lot but it was something that the two of you were learning to live with.

You were a singer and you adored your job. You were top of the charts alongside the likes of Billie Eilish, Selena Gomez and Little Mix. Singing to your fans almost every night made your heart full. There wasn't anything else you'd rather be doing.

Being one of the world's most iconic couples came with many perks, one of them being that you were both highly requested for photo shoots.

Vogue had called and they wanted both you and your boyfriend, Héctor, to be on the front cover.

You had never done a couples shoot before so it was a first for you and it was something that you were really looking forward to. You had done your fair share of solo shoots and although you enjoyed the outcome of them all, you were not a natural in front of the camera.

"Y/N, if you could just turn your head to the right ever so slightly." The photographer yelled out some directions for you to follow and you did, wanting these pictures to come out perfectly.

"Héctor, if you could lean down and rest your chin on her right shoulder." Your boyfriend followed his instructions perfectly, him also being used to doing photoshoots, not only for the club but when he did fashion campaigns as well.

The photographer was pleased with the positioning of the two of you and continued to snap several pictures of the two of you.

After a long and busy day, you and Héctor flopped down onto the bed that you shared and let out a long and exhausted sigh.

"You did good today." Héctor gave you a lazy, lopsided smile as he used his hand to push back the hair that had fallen into your face.

"As did you." You returned the smile, finding yourself scooting yourself closer so that you were wrapped up in his strong arms.

"Goodnight, Y/N. I love you." He whispered as you both shut your eyes, fatigued from your hectic day.

"I love you too, Héctor."

A/N: Thanks for the request! It was nice to get one that wasn’t for Messi or Ronaldo! :))))

Your torso twisted and turned, trying to make itself as attractive as possible. You contorted every which way, but the mirror never reflected what you wanted. You slid the jacket on your shoulders again. It made no difference; it still fell just short of the slits in your dress. You ripped it off and flung it to who-knows-where. 

You had tried on the same dress three times in the span of ten minutes; each time you threw it onto the floor to wrinkle, only to begrudgingly try it on again. No matter what you did to the dress, no matter what bit of fabric you readjusted or pins you used, your stretchmarks refused to be hidden.

At this point, it was like they had always been there. You had gone through a massive growth spurt as a teen. It was no big deal at the time; in fact, you had been ecstatic that you were becoming like the women who graced the covers of magazines and ads you saw at the store.  Now you weren’t as thrilled.

The growth spurt left permanent pink and white marks on your stomach and thighs. Permanent proof that it had happened.

When Hector had bought you the dress, you thought nothing of it, not seeing the low slits on each side. It was an issue now. He would be heartbroken if you did not wear it, but he would understand. He would have to understand.

The alarm clock on your bedside table suddenly caught your attention. 7:23pm. 

“Shit,” you mumbled. Hector and you had to leave at 7:30 on the dot. The restaurant had been hesitant to reserve you a table with hardly a week’s notice; it was only Hector’s fame that made them change their mind.

You tugged the fabric of your dress down one more time. The cut-outs were both just low enough to reveal the discoloration on your skin. It was so obvious, so... embarrassing. The marks were glaringly different from everything else. It was as if there was a sign next to them saying “Look at me!” You groaned. You couldn’t let anyone see them. This dress would not do.

Within seconds you had pulled the dress over your head for the fourth time and thrown it on the bed. It was gorgeous even crumpled on your unmade bed. But, paparazzi would be hounding you from the moment you stepped out of the car. They would be pointing their cameras in your face. Each flash and click would mean one more picture of the imperfections on your sides. 

If there was any way you could prevent them from seeing your stretch marks, you would do it.

You checked the clock. 7:26pm. You cast the doors to your closet wide open, ignoring them as they hit the wall with a thud. Rows and rows of beautiful clothes greeted you, but none of them were what you wanted. 

A knock came from the door of your shared bedroom. You had kicked Hector out, wanting to surprise him when you donned the dress for the first time. His disappointment was a small price to pay.

“Mi amor,” his voice sounded through the room, “May I come in?”

“One moment, please!”

You could sense him checking his watch and sighing. There was not a moment to spare, but you had to find another perfect dress. Even if it was impossible. Other futball players’ girlfriends’ didn’t show their stretchmarks (if they even had any)--why should you?

“We don’t have much time! I already know you look gorgeous in that dress.”

You groaned in frustration, a silk blouse scrunched in your hand. None of the clothes in your closet would do. None of them were good enough, none of them were nice enough, none of them were what Hector picked out. If only the other dress didn’t have those stupid slits.

“One more m-,” you began as you walked back into the bedroom, but were quickly interrupted from beyond the door. “Honey, considering what we put him through to get these reservations, the manager might have a heart attack if we’re not there on time! Besides, I want to show off my beautiful girlfriend.”

It rolled off of Hector’s tongue like a compliment, but it carried the pain of an insult. You weren’t beautiful. The most perfect dress in the world didn’t even look good on you.

“Well, what if I don’t want to go anymore?”

You huffed and fell back onto your shared bed. That was it. You rubbed your eyes, the tears already starting to form. Hector would understand. He had never said anything about your stretch marks before, but he had to find them as hideous as you did. The door squeaked as it opened. Hector’s steps creaked on the floor of your bedroom until he was right next to you, standing on the rug. You turned and buried your face into a pillow. “What’s wrong?” he asked.

The soft fabric absorbed your tears, “I don’t want to go out anymore.”

Hector’s laid his palm on your upper back, “I know that’s not true… but, you don’t have to tell me the truth if you don’t want to.”

A sob erupted from deep within your chest. Months of doubt came flooding out in the form of tears. You weren’t good enough for Hector Bellerin. You never would be. He was a world-class athlete, someone millions of men want to be and millions of women want to be with. You were a girl with an ugly body without your own claim to fame.

But none of those feelings properly came out into words.

Instead, Hector made his way to the bathroom and returned with a new tissue box. He placed one into your hand.

“Thank you,” you sniffled. You sat up straight and wiped your eyes.

“Of course.”

The room was quiet. The clock on your bedside table flashed 7:39, but neither of you made any move to leave. Hector wrapped his arm around your shoulders; your head instinctively rested on his.

“I’m sorry.”

“Don’t be.”

You opened your mouth to speak. How were you to word this?

“Do you… do you like being seen with me?” you finally spat out. You kept your head down and fiddled with the tissue in your hand.

Hector turned to face you, “Is that why you don’t want to go to dinner? Y/N, I love you from the bottom of my heart. Why wouldn’t I like being seen with you?” “But my stretch marks, Hector! This dress shows them!” you exclaimed, lifting your head off of his shoulder and meeting his gaze, “And don’t forget the extra weight I can’t get rid of and–!”

Hector grabbed your hand, “Y/N, stop it.”

“Excuse me?”

“Stop it, please,” Hector repeated, “That all means nothing to me.”

You rolled your eyes and sighed, “Yeah, right.”

“They don’t, Y/N. If I was embarrassed to go out with you, I wouldn’t have begged that poor manager to get us a reservation!” he said, “I love you for many reasons, Y/N, and the fact that you are absolutely gorgeous is only a part of it.”

You looked down at the slits. The marks were still there, but they did not look as bad as they had before. They were just marks on your skin–everyone has them.

“You really don’t mind them?” you said.

“I don’t,” he replied, an all-to-familiar smirk growing on his face, “In fact, they mark exactly where I hold on to you when w–”

“Stop!” you exclaimed, giggling as he pulled you closer and peppered kisses down your jaw and neck, “We have to go!”

“I thought you said you didn’t want to.” “I’ve changed my mind,” you replied, sliding off the bed onto your feet and running your fingers through your hair, “but I would be happy to continue this afterward.”
